What first got you into music?

Growing up in my household music was always present; whether it would be my Mom singing solos at our home church of St. Martin De Porres in Louisville Kentucky, or my Dad DJ’ing at weddings at country clubs.  Growing up I was really big into playing “Guitar Hero” and watching MTV,  VH1, and 106 and Park. Every day after school to catch up on all the latest music info and news regarding what was hot or trending. Up until I was 14 I always wanted to sing.  Then one random day in my freshman year of high school I came home and learned to sing, “You Should Let Me Love You” by Mario.  That is when I discovered that I had a musical gift. One year later I tried out for the choir at my high school, Seneca High School, and my audition, landed me a spot in the advanced choir as a sophomore.  Advance choir is the most elite level of choir in most school in the performing arts.   I made my first vocal recording at the age of 16 and I have been recording ever since. The reason I loved music what the ability to make people feel happy or be able to make people fall in love again with my voice. I would be asked to sing around school and every time I would sing people would tell me I should audition for American Idol or they complimented my voice.  A lot of people tell me I sound like Brandon Casey from Jagged Edge. 

Who inspired you to make music?

When it comes to my inspiration, hands down it is my mother. In my junior year of  high school my father passed due to kidney failure.   During that time period I witnessed my mother and my family go through a lot.  One of the few things that kept my mother going was me singing or pursing music.  She always encouraged my siblings and I to follow our dreams and to be strong for each other, just like our father was.  She has told me to never give up my dream, which is to sing for the world and share this beautiful gift from God.   

How would you describe the music that you typically create?

Modern Day Neo Soul with a hint of Trap EDM. 

What is your creative process like?

When it comes to the creative process and how I go about getting these ideas or thoughts from my mind onto a song; It’s a little different than most people. What I like to typically do is when I am working with a producer, I like to write my music and have it down “Memorized” way ahead of my actual recording session.  I take my time and work on how I want to sing my song.  I record all my rough drafts either at my house or at the FL studios.  I also like to listen to my engineer  “SLYK ELLIS” from EVO Recording who has been called the best in Louisville.  He may let me know whether or not I need to redo something, or if something is off, and if it is we go ahead and fix it right then and there.  Having worked out all the kinks early actually saves a lot of time.  Then at that point I usually have to just lay runs and harmonies.  Then after all this I send the final version to mixed and mastered. 

Who would you most like to collaborate with?

I would love to collaborate with Usher. He is one the most talented artists of our generation and has proven time after time that he still has that hefty pen game.  He still teaches the younger generation how to really sing to women. He is also one heck of an entertainer and really sets the example of what a DOPE RnB singer is. All of his music has high energy and great feels and is always being played at the clubs, the radio, and  the parties.   To me that is a really well-rounded Superstar!!! 

If you could go open a show for any artist who would it be?

Bryson Tiller.  HIs shows are seriously out of this world. I saw him on his set it off tour at the Yum center back in 2016 and that was the most "lit" concert I have ever seen. 

What is one message you want to give your fans?

Life is a journey not a destination. A lot of times we as humans we find ourselves complaining about not being where we want to be in life.  Often times we compare our blessings to other people when in reality comparison is the thief of joy. We all have our own special timing in life when it comes to achieving what we want to do, but in the midst of figuring that out, we are constantly going to grow and face life changing lessons that help shape  and sharpen our character.  You must never lose site of what you want to do and do not be discouraged but embrace the fact that you are already where you are.  Remember somewhere, someone is wishing they are where you are, in the moment.  A testament to this philosophy is echoed in one of my favorite songs of all time, “Love Yourz” by J -Cole because he spits some of the realest talk about just loving your own life and its real out here. 

 What is the most useless talent you have?

I can ride a bike with no hands, it scares people a bit, when I do it but I thinks its pretty lit actually haha. 

Do you sing in the shower? What songs?

Every morning that’s my me time with God. I sing "1 on 1" by Zacardi Cortez and "He saw the best in me" by Marvin Sapp. 

What would you be doing right now, if it wasn’t for your music career?

Probably skateboarding or playing Xbox. 

Where have you performed? What are your favorite and least favorite venues?

I performed at the Kula Art Gallery in March for this really dope singer by the name of Cadence who is extremely talented.  However, due to Covid, live performances have been curtailed.  However, I am excited to see some of these places when the world opens back up. I have always wanted to perform at Staples Arena and Madison Square Garden. 

How do you feel the Internet has impacted the music business?

Man ! isn’t it crazy how the internet still remains undefeated !? nah for real it has taken over the business with Tik Tok and Instagram.  The internet has allowed for the world to easily find you. I remember back in elementary school when "Crank Dat" from Soulja Boy came out on YouTube and that was literally the main way people were discovered.  Now people are blowing up on Tik Tok sitting in their living room. 

What is your favorite song to perform?

My favorite song to sing/ perform is "Love" by Musiq Soulchild. 

Which famous musicians do you admire?

Bryson Tiller, Jack Harlow, & 2KBaby. 

What is the most trouble you’ve ever gotten into?

I got sent home in middle school for throwing a banana in the hallway. The most petty disciplinary action someone could ever face. 

What is the best advice you’ve been given?

Never Quit keep going until you can’t go anymore. 

If you could change anything about the industry, what would it be?

I would find more ways to create more opportunities to allow artists and musicians to network with other people. 

What’s next for you?

I have a couple of songs I am working on with a very famous producer from New York by the name of “Peter Monk” and I am excited to share with the world what we have in store. The vibes of the songs are truly special and is what the RnB world needs.
